How many m² of tile do I need for my flat in Libya? How to measure, with waste

Multiply length by width for each room, add them up, then add about 10% for waste (a little more for large formats) and send the number on WhatsApp.

The short answer

Measure each room (length × width) in metres and add the results, then add about 10% for cuts and breakage. If you choose a large format like 120×120, or a diagonal layout, add a little more. Then send the area on WhatsApp and we will tell you what fits.

Step 1: measure each room separately

Do not use the flat's total area from the contract, because it includes walls and spaces that need no floor tile. Take a tape measure and measure the length and width of the living room, each bedroom, the kitchen, the bathrooms and the corridor. Write the numbers down.

Step 2: multiply and add

An example with round numbers for a 100 m² flat: living room 30 m², three bedrooms at 12 m² each, so 36 m², kitchen 10 m², two bathrooms 8 m², corridor 6 m². The total is 90 m². Your number can come out lower than the flat's area because of the walls, and that is normal.

Step 3: add the waste

Continuing the example: 90 m² + 10% = 99, so about 100 m² in 60×120. In 120×120 the pieces are bigger, so cutting at the walls wastes more, and we take about 15%: 90 + 13.5 = about 104 m². These are rough figures to show the method, and the final count depends on the layout.

Step 4: take it all in one batch

If you run short at the end of the job, you may not find the same batch and shade. So it is better to work out the whole area once, buy the waste allowance with it, and keep a spare box for future repairs.

Send the area and we will work it out with you
